The DAS SPEED steering wheel was designed with a simple objective: to connect you more directly to your car.

Each material choice has been carefully studied to eliminate the lag, slipping and ambiguity typical of foam-, silicone- or aluminum-covered wheels, to offer you pure precision and control.

The engineering rationale

Traditional foam steering wheels hide several problems that many drivers underestimate:

• Finger slip — Foam compresses and can slightly twist around the rim, especially when fingers sweat or apply uneven pressure.

• Over-pressing — To compensate for slipping, drivers grip harder, which causes fatigue and reduces sensitivity.

• Blurred feedback — Foam creates a "play" between the fingers and the car’s response, blurring the line between the driver's action and the vehicle’s reaction.

• Oversized wheels — Larger diameters have been adopted as a workaround: squeezing the foam gives a easier sense of control, but increases wheel throw and mechanical latency.

Think of a dragster tire deforming at idle: a deliberately exaggerated example, but it clearly illustrates how soft materials deform under stress. This same deformation reduces your driving precision.
