The DAS SPEED steering wheel has been designed with a simple objective: to connect you more directly with your car.

Each material choice has been carefully studied to eliminate the lag, slip and ambiguity typical of foam-, silicone- or aluminium-covered wheels, to offer you pure precision and control.

The 50 mm version maintains the same ultra-direct steering philosophy unique to the DAS SPEED range, while offering a slightly larger diameter for smoother steering modulation and a more progressive feel in the hand.

Technical specifications

• Diameter : 50mm — slightly larger in diameter for softer sensations and more progressive steering.

• Material : rigid hard composite structure for a direct feel, with no flex. The DAS logo is chrome-plated for an even cooler look!

• Innovative surface finish : optimized texture providing immediate grip, even with minimal finger pressure, just like the hundreds of spider-leg hooks!

• Compatibility : compatible with most transmitter hubs: SANWA, FLYSKY, KO PROPO, KONECT, FUTABA (see diagram).

Also available in a 44mm model for more direct feel: fluorescent yellow, fluorescent orange, red, blue, gold or green.

Engineering philosophy

Traditional foam wheels hide several subtle problems that many pilots underestimate:

• Finger slip — The foam compresses and can slightly rotate around the rim, especially when fingers sweat or apply uneven pressure.

• Over-pression — To compensate for slip, pilots grip harder, which causes fatigue and reduces sensitivity.

• Blurred feedback — The foam creates a “play” between the fingers and the car’s response, blurring the boundary between the pilot’s actions and the vehicle’s reaction.

• Oversized wheels — Larger diameters have been adopted as a workaround: pressing the foam gives a smoother sense of control, but increases the wheel throw and mechanical latency.

Think of a dragster tire deforming at idle: a deliberately exaggerated example, but it clearly illustrates how soft materials deform under load. This very deformation reduces your piloting precision.
