How to keep your tires fresh and fast

- Categories : Reno's tutorials

I know what you are telling yourself.

A video on tire bags, the Shark has really hit rock bottom! The heat of this month of June 2021 surely in cause...

Actually no. This is something quite important.

I keep repeating it to you in my tutorials on Youtube or in my RSRC Academy sessions, but the tires are for me one of the most important settings of your car.

You can have a super well tuned car and unsuitable tires and you will be far from having fun, and vice versa.

Once your comfort zone in car setup has been reached, it will be very easy for you to adjust the setup of your car from one track to another, mainly by adapting the tread and the rubber of the tire which corresponds to the track conditions at the right timing.

Personally, I hardly change anything on my car, as you can see in my setups.

The profile and the compound are extremely important and who says compound says freshness of it.

Indeed, I'm sure you've already thought about it and maybe experienced it...

After a long time in the garage or even worse, under the sun, your tires have become dull, and harder. This is where I am going...

Say you had a set of AKA Super Soft Impact tyres. Left in the air for several weeks or months, the compound will dry out and harden. By exaggerating, you will not have a super soft, but a soft one.

AKA Impact supersoft

This is unfortunately true for all tires on the market, regardless of the rubber or the brand of your tires.

I wouldn't describe my face to you when in Academy I was surprised by a driver taking out original 1990 Medial Pro tires (from my debut! :-)), which was lying in a bag in the corner of the garage, to put on a brand new Kyosho MP10 TK2 (see no nastiness if you recognize yourself, this situation made me laugh and I had to share it :-)).

So a 100% efficient tire is one that stays in a bag that is as airtight as possible, and if possible protected from heat and sun.

Most major tire brands now provide tire bags as soon as you purchase a set. Often even UV protection, it's great.

Pneus AKA montés collés

I would like to take the time today to present our tire bags to you.

Sachets zippés pour pneus modélisme

Very useful if you have a large bag of tires with loose tires, or if you have thrown away the original bags of your tires.

It allows you to store 4 tires directly for a minimum bulk, and perfectly adapted dimensions of 270mm x 280mm.

If you are like me and you glue your tires (and even take the plane for a race), it is even better, you can move with 4 sets of tires (16 tires) complete in a ball for a huge gain in volume !

Our zipped pouches are 50 microns thick, which is double the freezer type zipped pouch you find in supermarkets. Yes it works and we all did that to save 2 €, except after 2 uses either the bag is done or the zip is torn off and it's trash ...

In addition, with each set, you have a sheet of stickers to clearly differentiate the profile and the rubber. You can erase at any time with brake cleaner and microfiber. So infinitely reusable!

Last thing and not the least, for the most picky among you who would have in the idea of putting additive on your tires, whether it is for Reims or another race (Padova for example), it is THE ONLY way to get back to the house without the car stinking of the product for 2 weeks ...
