At the end of 2023, the Mini-Z MR-04EVO2 underwent a complete model redesign after 14 years.
Building on the proven MR-03 configuration, the MR-04EVO2 introduced a sensor-equipped brushless motor, a redesigned front suspension, and a lower battery position, which allowed a substantial performance improvement.
Today in 2025, the MR-04EVO2 benefits from a major update with further enhancements. Featuring the 2.0 reinforced front suspension arms first introduced in the RWD series, the updated model now includes the gyro unit widely adopted as standard.
Upgraded to version 2, the gyroscope provides a refined balance between stability and cornering precision, improving both race performance and driving experience. Another major improvement is the new RC unit that enables engine RPM control for precise tuning, essential for drivers while keeping competition fair, as the Mini-Z Cup rules shift from motor KV regulation (rpm per volt) to direct RPM regulation in 2025.
The MR-04EVO2 fully supports this new system and, thanks to the I.C.S. Settings Manager, users can easily configure the motor settings to match the category regulations.

While retaining elements of the excellent MR-03, the new MR-04EVO2 chassis significantly improves performance thanks to front suspension modifications and a lower center of gravity that work in synergy with a sensor-equipped brushless motor.
Strong front-track adjustments can be made from narrowing or widening by changing the lower and upper front plates as well as the steering linkage. The adjustable wheelbase allows tuning the chassis according to the type of body.
While the camber angle is optimized in corners thanks to the current upper link design, the front suspension uses the new ball joint integrated into the pivot to further improve camber stability.
The caster angle has been revised, as has the trail (wheel axis offset), which provides a more linear handling and gentler turn-in.
New front springs specific to the MR-04 with different durometers are available as an option.
The king-pin mount on the steering knuckles now allows greater freedom.
The 7 ball bearings of the car have been replaced with bearings of 3 mm inner diameter to reduce friction.
The pivot offset relative to the wheel (scrub) is 1.5 mm shorter on the MR-04 compared to the MR-03.
The steering responsiveness is improved and eliminates variations in wheel track in corners (and wheel rubbing in body shells).
The new potentiometer offers precision and durability with a completely redesigned steering program to achieve the best response and greatest accuracy in MINI-Z history. The steering control program, more precise, enables different settings thanks to the MR-04's exclusive I.C.S. software.
New motor mount design for sensor-equipped brushless motors.
The chassis height can be adjusted in three steps by changing the axle spacer settings to suit specific driving conditions. It is now possible to route the cables along the motor mount for greater clarity.
The standard ball differential optimizes the differential action between the left and right rear wheels in turns.
It also provides moderate slip to improve traction when excessive load is applied. The silver anodized finish on the aluminum parts creates a formidable look equal to the performance.
Lower mounting of the batteries (or AAA rechargeable batteries) on the chassis allows lowering the center of gravity compared with the MR-03. Together with the chassis shape, this improves stability in corners as well as speed and control.
