So where does Black Friday come from?

The name Black Friday actually originated in Philadelphia, USA.

In the 1950s, Philadelphia hosted the annual Army-Navy football game on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Fans arriving early the day before would flock to the city to start their Christmas shopping.

The extra amount of tourists, football fans and holiday shoppers created massive traffic jams and congestion in the city, requiring the presence of Philadelphia's entire police force.

So “Black Friday” means heavy traffic. Funny enough, for an e-commerce site like ours, it also means a lot of traffic on this date now!
